Jeremy Irons, the actor, was asked to pick out his favourite restaurants from around the world.
In no particular order here is what he said.
"Elena’s Etoile - London,
Annies - Ballydehob, County Cork, Ireland
The Old Plow - that’s us !
Le Bilboquet - 25 East 63rd & Madison, New York
Natacha - 17 Bis Rue Compagnie Premiere, 75014, Paris"
"Nestling in a valley this country pub houses some of the best food within an hour of London. Country restaurants often get the balance wrong and if the chef is exceptional, fall into pretentiousness. That never happens at the Plow, which is welcoming and loving."– Jeremy Irons
Other customers have said “ We have enjoyed many excellent evenings of good food with you over the years - last night’s was outstanding - my compliments to all your team”.
“Yet again a most successful lunch - well done to you and your super staff”
The Old Plow has had a chequered history but has been owned and managed by Malcolm and Olivia Cowan since 1988 after moving their family from London. The location and the charm of The Old Plow was exactly what Malcolm was looking for and provided him with the opportunity to display his talents and his five star West End standards.
The Old Plow is listed in the Hardens Guide and has entries in both the bistro
and restaurant sections of the Michelin Guide.
